The Ministry of Justice announced on the 19th that it had intensively cracked down on foreigners and brokers who worked illegally in the entertainment and massage industry for two months from last June, and a total of 887 people were caught. In addition, a total of 642 illegally employed foreigners were also caught, and three of them were arrested. 604 people were deported, including 588 people forced to leave and 16 people were ordered to leave the country.
By nationality, 527 were Thailand, Vietnam (49), China (33), Russia (12), and the Philippines (11).
Illegal entry and employment brokers caught a total of 11 people, arrested two, and sent the rest to the prosecution without detention. Illegal employers also caught 234 people, sent 13 to the prosecution and 210 people were notified.
The Ministry of Justice explained that it has intensively cracked down on negative prostitution business practices such as massage parlors, officetels, business trip massages, and host bars where foreigners who entered the country by exploiting the visa exemption system are working illegally.
Minister of Justice Han Dong-hoon said, “The basic premise of systematizing related policies, such as the establishment of a control tower for immigration and migration policies, is to establish an order for sojourn, such as preventing illegal entry.”
